This comprehensive guide tells you all about a type of orthodontic treatment that doesn't affect appearance and is comfortable: invisible Invisalign braces. How do they look and work? What are their advantages, disadvantages? How much do they cost? All this and much more we have covered in this article.

What are Invisalign braces

Some of the other names for Invisalign braces - invisible or clear braces - speak for themselves: They are modern, nearly invisible orthodontic braces made of transparent, biocompatible plastic. In addition to being invisible during wear, you can remove them when you need them, unlike traditional fixed metal braces. That's why you'll sometimes find them under the names of removable, removable or snap-on braces.

It was born in 1997 in the USA and has undergone tremendous development since then. Invisalign braces are now available in over 100 countries worldwide and are used to treat millions of patients.

The difference between traditional and invisible braces

Unlike metal braces, which can be uncomfortable and very noticeable, invisible braces are discreet and comfortable. Treatment with invisible braces is often faster and less painful than treatment with traditional braces, but it does require a very honest approach from the client.

We have written a more detailed comparison in a large comparison of all types of braces. Here you will also learn that sometimes you will also find a completely different type of braces under the term invisible braces (so-called lingual braces) and that there are no removable braces like removable braces.

The 5 main benefits of Invisalign braces

  1. Aesthetics and invisibility - you can wear Invisalign clear braces without worrying about being noticed.
  2. Comfort and ease of wear - aligners (i.e. aligner splints) are made of smooth biocompatible plastic that does not cause irritation to the gums or cheeks. They are precisely shaped to your teeth, which increases wearing comfort.
  3. Easy teeth cleaning - because you can take them out at any time, you can clean your teeth perfectly without too much effort. This will contribute to 100% oral hygiene and at the same time prevent unnecessary yellowing of your teeth.
  4. Special event removal - you can remove your braces whenever you need them - for example, during important meetings or presentations.
  5. Shorter treatment time - Usually, treatment with foil braces is shorter than with traditional braces, but the length of treatment depends on the complexity of your case and how carefully you wear them.

How the treatment with invisible braces is carried out in the World of Braces

First consultation and visualization

First, you can book a no-obligation initial consultation via our website or by phone. At this consultation, we will assess the condition of your teeth and determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign braces treatment.

We'll also take a digital scan of your teeth and show you what your teeth will look like once treatment is complete.

Initial examination

It includes taking X-rays and photographs of the face and teeth. These, in conjunction with 3D visualisation, serve as a template for the production of a series of your splints - i.e. invisible braces. Your orthodontist will fit them and instruct you on how to wear and care for them properly.

Regular splint changes and check-ups with an orthodontist

Every few weeks you will change one set of splints for another to gradually achieve the desired result. You will also have regular check-ups, about once every 2-3 months.

An innovation for new clients is Virtual Care. This allows them to manage regular check-ups from the comfort of their home using the app, the Invisalign Lens Opener and a smartphone.

The duration of treatment then varies according to individual needs, but on average lasts 12 to 24 months.

What problems can Invisalign braces solve?

Invisalign braces can effectively address a number of orthodontic issues, including:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Of crowded teeth
  • Gaps between the teeth

Caring for Invisalign braces

But how to care for invisible braces properly

  • Aligners need to be cleaned daily with a soft brush, lukewarm water and, if necessary, a paste to prevent bacterial build-up.
  • Avoid smoking and consuming foods and beverages that can stain the splints. Brush your teeth before putting on the splints after eating to remove food debris and prevent plaque build-up.
  • When not wearing splints, always store them in a protective case. This will prevent them from becoming damaged or infected.
  • Do not expose the splints to extreme temperatures such as hot water or direct sunlight - this can deform the plastic braces.

Price of Invisalign braces

The cost of treatment with invisible braces can vary depending on the specific case and the length of time needed to achieve the desired result. The average price varies between 70 000 and 110 000 CZK.

Frequently asked questions and answers

How many hours out of the day do I have to wear invisible braces?

We recommend wearing them for at least 22 hours a day and only taking them out when eating.

Is treatment with Invisalign painful?

It always depends on the individual client and the extent of the orthodontic problem. Some clients may experience slight pressure or discomfort, especially when changing splints, but most people get used to wearing them quickly.

Can I eat and drink with the splints on?

You should remove the splints from your mouth when eating and drinking, except when drinking water.

How often do I need to see an orthodontist during treatment?

Regular check-ups with the orthodontist are usually scheduled every 2-3 months, but new clients using Virtual Care can manage regular check-ups from anywhere. So they only visit the clinic for an initial check-up, bonding and debonding of attachments or when needed.

How often do I need to change my Invisalign splints?

Usually the splints are changed every 1-2 weeks according to the schedule set by the orthodontist. Each set of splints is designed to gradually move the teeth into the desired position.

What happens after I have completed treatment with invisible braces?

Once treatment is complete, it is important to wear the retainer as instructed by the orthodontist to prevent the teeth from shifting back to their original position. It is a good idea to wear the retainer as often as possible in the beginning, but over time it should only be worn at night.
