"I have wanted to have straight teeth since I was a child, but at that time braces were not as big a trend as they are today. In the end, I opted for children's braces, which were only worn at night, because I was too embarrassed to wear them all day (laughs). Unfortunately, these removable braces only helped me to improve minimally at the time.
As an adult, I took the plunge again and went for a consultation at the orthodontics, where I was very disappointed - all they offered me was classic metal braces. I went in hoping that orthodontics had moved on since my childhood and that perhaps there might be a more modern method. "I needed braces to address crowded teeth in the front of my lower jaw and initial signs of rotation in one of my upper front teeth. "The appointment and the first consultation went smoothly and quickly. I was surprised by the price, but I figured it was the price of not having a mouth full of wires. Due to the nature of my alignment issues, the dentist had to place several small clear "buttons" on the fronts of several teeth . These served as pivot points or anchors for the braces or my aligners. At first, these 'knobs' were painful and admittedly, I needed pain medication in the early days as my teeth got used to the splints. "When the dentist decided that it would be appropriate for Christine to start wearing braces, I immediately thought of myself and my childhood with braces. The number of times I had to make emergency visits to the orthodontist because wires stuck in my mouth or my retainer fell off. How much it always hurt after tightening them.
